Welcome
to Well Green House Bed and Breakfast
First
of all let me tell you about the area. Knodishall is situated close
to Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Snape and the rest of the Heritage Coast.
It is, in fact, walkable to the sea, so is ideal, having the light,
well drained land in this area of the Sandlings. We are also blessed
with a good number of local pubs, two being within walking distance,
and others just a short drive away. Being at the heart of Suffolk’s
much loved places, such as Snape Maltings, Minsmere Bird Reserve, Dunwich,
with its lovely little museum, Aldeburgh, Southwold, and Walberswick,
you can stay at Well Green House, and visit all these places with very
little travelling. If castles are your thing, then Framlingham and Orford
are not far either.
For golfers there are two good courses
at Aldeburgh and Thorpeness, and Knodishall also has its own riding
centre
Well
Green House is a small Victorian villa, complete with lumpy walls and
tucked away bathrooms. Situated on the B1069, and only one mile from
Leiston, with its famous Long Shop Steam Museum, and supplier of our
wonderful breakfasts, a Greek butcher, whose tiny shop is full of superb
local meat, all from farms a short distance away, and an array of wonderful
Olive Oils and salamis from his homeland, the Isle of Simi.
To give you an idea
of the house and its accommodation. There is a ground floor twin bedroom,en
suite and a double upstairs en suite.
We have
been doing Bed & Breakfast for the past six years near Woodbridge,
and our many regulars will tell you how much they have always enjoyed
their stay with us. There are tea and coffee making facilities, TV, and
radio in the bedrooms, and, although Well Green House is a non smoking
home, you are welcome to smoke in the garden.

Our breakfasts, which
are cooked on the family Rayburn, will be of the same high standard, using
only locally produced bacon and sausages. In fact we only buy from butchers
who actually know their farmers. The bread is homemade, and toasted, is
wonderful with our own seasonal preserves. Together with a selection of
cereals, yoghurt, fruit, tea, or our delicious Columbian Coffee, you are
guarenteed a good start to your day to explore our lovely countryside.
Vegetarians might like to try a Suffolk Fraize, a sort of light, pancake
cum omelette filled with veggies in season. Best to ask the night before
as it takes time to prepare!
For your evening meal,
you can go to one of many local pubs, some a walk away, others a short
drive. Our 'Local' the Butchers Arms is just a short stroll away
We pride ourselves
on our warm welcome, Katy our docile Golden Retriever, has as much to
do with this as we do, and will be found “relaxing” on the
rug in the hall, waiting to greet you. Actually, she just sleeps, and
may not wake up when you arrive!
Sustainable Tourism
is very important to us, and our input to this ensures we recycle as much
as possible, our compost heaps envelope all our cardboard from empty toilet
rolls! Fruit, vegetables, and meats are sourced locally, and we hope that
you might enjoy a day, leaving your car parked with us, off road, and
enjoy the countryside on foot.
