Why do you need to learn to Nordic Walk?
There is a special technique involved in this way of walking.
It enhances all the good things we get from normal walking, and
almost doubles some of the benefits. If you don’t learn
the technique, then you just walk normally, but using two poles!
This is OK, but you are missing so much more that it can do for
you.
We perform a series of actions to help you do all this and aim
to become at one with your poles. The action is very different
to that of trekking poles, have a look at the video on this site,
to see exactly what it looks like.
Courses in Suffolk
Because I travel around, there may be a course in your area.
But normally, if just one person learns, then you come to me,
or we arrange to meet somewhere mutually convenient.
A course is three lessons, the first is one and a half hours,
the others are about an hour, but longer if you want to walk further.
£45 for a course of three lessons. Tel 01728 687689
Residential Courses in Suffolk
These are between one and three day courses. You will stay in
a pretty, heavily timbered cottage, complete with Inglenook fireplace!
Normally full board, but as the class won't run all day, you may
have other places to visit, and so alter your need for full board.
Because these residential courses are tailor made for you, both
in duration and accommodation, it is best to ring for details.

Clothing, Poles and Footwear
Generally speaking, normal walking clothing is adequate, walking
trousers and not jeans, ( they stay very wet in rain!), a wet
coat, better to be slightly fitted, so as not to interfere with
the pole action, but use what you have, trainers or walking boots,
depending on weather, hats and gloves. The latter need to be slim
fitting and not too bulky, to be able to fit under the pole strap.
You will need a small rucksack to hold your coat if you get
hot, you can’t tie it round your waist as it gets in the
way of the poles.
As with any walking, thin layers are better than bulky items
of clothing. You get very warm Nordic Walking, so make sure you
can peel off, when needed.
I supply poles whilst training, and also on the walks if needed.
Nordic Poles is a very big subject, and one it is best to discuss
whilst you are training or walking with me.
Don’t forget a bottle of water!
